By order of Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, a thorough inspection is to take place by the end of Friday, of the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Health in connection with the death of 36-year old Yavor Georgiev, the government press service has announced.

As the BNR reported, the man died in a psychiatric hospital in Varna, after being detained by police. Friends and relatives of the deceased organized a protest, stating they believed he had been subject to police brutality, and demanded the full clarification of all circumstances.
“The time for analysis and coordination between the political and the professional administrations of the Interior Ministry is long past,” said Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, and added that the state was the only public authority with the right to exercise repression, but only within the law. “There is nothing on the CCTV video showing that exercising any form of physical force was absolutely necessary,” the prime minister said.

Earlier in the day Interior Minister Daniel Mitov announced that the head of police in Varna Senior Commissioner Andrey Angelov had been fired and a second autopsy of the deceased ordered.
