Around 50 Bulgarians want to be evacuated from Israel because of the escalation of tension in the Middle East, Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev said in Plovdiv, Yanitsa Marova from BNR’s Radio Plovdiv reports. He added that the lists are constantly being updated as this is not a compact group located in just one town.
“We are acting in such a way as to guarantee, inasmuch as possible, a safe route because these people have to leave a very dangerous zone, pass through another danger zone and go to a third zone that is no less dangerous,” Minister Georgiev said. The speed with which the Bulgarians in Israel will be evacuated is not as important as their safety, and that is precisely what the government with all authorities and services engaged in this, are working towards. There is no danger to the people working at the Bulgarian embassy who have decided to stay on the ground, Georg Gerorgiev said, because every building in Israel has its bomb shelter.
Bulgaria is in constant contact with our embassies in Tel Aviv and in Tehran, and is being briefed on the situation on the ground, he said further. There are people who want to be evacuated from Iran as well, he added.
