Svetlana Yancheva has been honored as best actress at two festivals abroad for her participation in the short film Freckles, the production team announced. The international recognition comes from TMFF (The Monthly Film Festival) – Glasgow, and SFAAF (South Film and Arts Academy Festival) – Chile.

Due to the professionalism and naturalness with which it depicts a fragment of magical realism reflecting the dysfunctions of society, Freckles was awarded the “Film of the Month” award in the May 2025 edition of TMFF, the festival website writes.

In the 16-minute film by director Nevena Nikolova, the aging, freckled Zaka lives in a small village. She is infamous for her almost poisonous herbs that help women resist spousal violence.
