"Bulgarian Classical Concerts – Los Angeles" is a new organization for the presentation and promotion of Bulgarian classical music in a global context. It was founded by the successful violinist Blagomira Lipari and the famous Bulgarian composer Penka Kouneva, winner of a Grammy award. Kouneva and Lipari are working together with the director Georgi Zdravkov and with the assistance of the Consul General of Bulgaria in Los Angeles Boyko Hristov and his wife Silvia Hristova. The new non-profit foundation Bulgarian Classical Concerts – Los Angeles will organize Bulgarian classical concerts in Los Angeles and other cities in the USA.

The goal is to perform Bulgarian classical music. The work of legendary composers such as Pancho Vladigerov, Lyubomir Pipkov, Marin Goleminov will be presented alongside that of successful contemporary composers from Bulgaria - Dobrinka Tabakova, Georgi Andreev and many others. Since the mission of the concerts is unification, cultural bridges and connections, masterpieces of world classics will also be heard.
In addition to Bulgarian music in its interrelation with world culture, Bulgarian culture, architecture and traditions will also be promoted through video projections accompanying the concerts.

The first season will include three chamber events in Los Angeles - on November 2, 2025, March 8 and May 31, 2026 - with the participation of famous Bulgarian and American musicians in original programs. Concerts and master classes are also planned in other cities in the USA, a symphony concert in the second season, and commissions of new concert pieces.

The official announcement of this musical initiative will take place on June 27 at the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Los Angeles, Radio Bulgaria learned from Penka Kouneva. The concert that gave the idea for the new organization took place on March 21, 2025.

Organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Los Angeles, it was the first of its kind on the West Coast and is the largest event dedicated to the national holiday of Bulgaria, as well as to the initiative to make March the month of Bulgarian culture in Los Angeles.

Prominent guests, leaders and diplomats from over 20 countries attended, who followed with interest the program, which included one of the most famous and most performed Bulgarian works – Vardar Rhapsody by Pancho Vladigerov, string quartets by Marin Goleminov and Petko Staynov, arrangements for string instruments and flute of songs by "The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices" choir, piano compositions by Milen Kirov, Nani mi nani, Damyancho by Lyubomir Pipkov, Earth and Nestinarki by Penka Kouneva.

The mission of "Bulgarian Classical Concerts - Los Angeles" is to build cultural bridges between the Bulgarian diaspora and the diverse multi-ethnic audience, performers and cultural institutions in the United States.
