The Maritsa East TPP complex will supply 50% of the energy for household consumers in Bulgaria. This was made clear at a briefing of Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov in Maritsa East 2 TPP, BTA has reported.

The minister informed that this will happen from July 1 and the plant would reach 100 percent of its capacity. "If necessary, five units can be put into operation, as they will be repaired. Thanks to the new mechanism, the plant, together with the others in the mix, will produce 6 million MWh for a period of one year, which in turn will guarantee work for coal mining, as 10 million tons of coal will have to be mined," the minister pointed out.

According to Stankov, this will guarantee the long-term operation of the power plants and the jobs of over 6,000 people in the region.
