Daniela and her husband Petar settled in Canada with their children in 1993. In a previous interview with Radio Bulgaria, the artist described her work as follows:

"I try to show what happens in the imagination — the invisible world within us. The ideas and things a woman loves and wants to present to the outside world. That's why I always start with a face or a female figure, and then try to find additional elements that reveal what's happening inside her mind and imagination."
