The draw for the FIDE Women’s World Cup, which begins on July 5 in Batumi (Georgia), has been finalized. Among the 107 competitors are three Bulgarian chess players — Nurgyul Salimova, Antoaneta Stefanova and Nadya Stefanova.
In 2023, Nurgyul Salimova won the silver medal at the FIDE World Cup in Baku and will now face Devi Herfesa from Indonesia. Former world and European champion Antoaneta Stefanova will face Munajja Azhar from Malaysia in the first round. Nadya Toncheva will compete against Greece’s second-strongest female chess player, Anastasia Avramidu.
Each competitor is guaranteed USD 3,750 from the prize fund. The winner will earn USD 50,000.
