"Bulgaria has the unanimous support of European leaders for joining the Eurozone'', Bulgaria’s Premier Rosen Zhelyazkov said before the start of the meeting of European heads of state and government in Brussels. Positive conclusions related to the two convergence reports will be adopted today, and a recommendation will be made to the European Council to approve the necessary legislative changes, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov told journalists.

He met with European Council President António Costa before the start of the European Council meeting. The two also discussed the topic of the Republic of North Macedonia's EU membership. Premier Zhelyazkov received assurances from António Costa that the Council would strictly adhere to the 2022 compromise.

''The implementation of the 2022 compromise, which foresees amendments to the constitution of the Republic of North Macedonia and the inclusion of the Bulgarian community, is the necessary condition for the negotiation process to begin'', said Rosen Zhelyzakov.
