Petar Mitsin claims silver medal at the European U23 Swimming Championships in Slovakia

Petar Mitsin won a silver medal in the men’s 200m freestyle at the European U23 Swimming Championships held in Šamorín, Slovakia. The Bulgarian stopped the clock at 1:46.48 minutes, setting a new national men's record in the event. He improved his previous personal best by 0.02 seconds. In the final, Petar Mitsin was beaten only by David Popovici of Romania, the reigning Olympic champion in the discipline from the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics. Popovici finished in 1:43.64. Charlie Hutchison of Great Britain took the bronze medal.

This is Petar Mitsin's second medal at European Championships in this age category. Two years ago, he became European champion in the 400m freestyle in Dublin, Republic of Ireland.
