A concessionaire is being sought for the Port of Varna

A concession will be granted for the Port of Varna, which is an opportunity for investments worth hundreds of millions, Deputy Prime Minister Grozdan Karadzhov told the Parliamentary Committee on Transport and Communications, as quoted by Radio Varna.

''The best thing that can happen to the Port of Varna is what is already happening at the Port of Burgas. Constanța has flourished, while Varna has lagged behind. It’s no coincidence that the Silk Road bypassed us and went through Constanța instead of Varna, even though we have a direct rail line to the Danube River. There is no available funding for investment in the Port of Varna. The only possible source is private capital — investors who are also linked to cargo owners and operators who can bring in new cargo'', said Grozdan Karadzhov.
