A second ship carrying pipes for the Vertical Gas Corridor project, which will connect Greece and Romania, has arrived at the Port of Burgas. Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov oversaw the delivery.

"These 2,526 pipes from India are intended for the next stage of construction of the Bulgarian section of the gas pipeline," Stankov stated. He added that the first 48-kilometre segment up to Kresna had been fully cleared, with some of the pipes already laid and welded. Construction is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2026.

The next stage — 61 kilometres to Vetrino — will present a number of engineering challenges, including laying 30 kilometres of pipeline across the Stara Planina mountain range, traversing three rivers and drilling under the Hemus motorway.
