Following the Council of the EU's and the European Parliament's decision on Bulgaria's accession to the eurozone, the country is entering the final phase of preparation, said Dimitar Radev, Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB), in an interview with BTA.

“(We meet the news) without unnecessary emotions. The decision was expected and fully deserved. It confirms that our strategic choice was the right one, and is the result of many years of effort at many levels. We will start minting Bulgarian euro coins this week,” said Radev.

At the same time, the bank has activated key processes for the currency changeover, the technical preparation of systems, and the information campaign. These will be carried out in close cooperation with the government, the European Central Bank and the European Commission.

He again called for fiscal stability and the implementation of the state budget.
