Albania is extremely committed to security and peace in the region, said the Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, Elisa Spiropali, who is on an official visit to Sofia. After a meeting with her Bulgarian counterpart Natalia Kiselova, she added that this is why Tirana has signed an agreement on trilateral cooperation with Kosovo and Croatia, which she hopes Bulgaria will join in the future. The goal is to be able to respond to security challenges, strengthen defence capabilities and guarantee peace in a situation that is delicate and influenced by very difficult international events, Spiropali said, quoted by BTA.

On the first day of her visit to Sofia, Spiropali met with Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov. He said that Bulgaria considers Albania a trusted and loyal partner. "Our two countries are reliable allies within NATO, I am glad that we share a common vision for a future built on peace, stability and prosperity in the region," Zhelyazkov said.
