“We Continue the Change” (PP) will support votes of no confidence that do not distance us from Europe.” This is how the leader of PP, Assen Vassilev, answered a journalist's question about tomorrow's vote of no confidence in the government over failure in the environment and water sectors. He recalled the PP's position to abstain from voting in votes of no confidence until July 8, when the final decision on this country's accession to the eurozone was made.
"From now on, we are opposition, as we have clearly stated that this government is harmful to Bulgaria," Assen Vassilev said, quoted by BTA. The MP added that he was referring only to his own party and did not speak on behalf of the entire PP-DB parliamentary group.
Regarding the detention of the mayor of Varna, Blagomir Kotsev, accused of corruption in public procurement, the PP leader announced that there would certainly be further protests. "We have already started working with the European institutions and we expect a rather sharp reaction," he added. According to him, this case shows arbitrariness.
According to Assen Vassilev, the mayor of Varna was detained “without any evidence or money found.”
The fact that “We Continue the Change” support the vote of no confidence does not surprise me, but it saddens me,” Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov commented from Rome. He asked whether this means that the party would have synchronized actions in the future with “Vazrazhdane” and “Velichie”.
Rosen Zhelyazkov also said that the vote of no confidence in his government, submitted by “Velichie”, will not pass because there were no prerequisites.
