Bulgaria’s candidate for judge at the Court of Justice of the European Union, Associate Professor Alexander Kornezov, has been approved, lex.bg reports.

In line with the Treaty of Lisbon, a panel of seven jurists recognised for their expertise in European Union law assessed his competence, professional experience, language skills, independence, and integrity through a written procedure and an oral interview.

Mr Kornezov, the son of former Constitutional Court judge Lyuben Kornezov, holds a law degree from Sofia University and a Master’s degree in European Law from the College of Europe in Bruges. He practised as a lawyer at the Brussels Bar, worked at the Court of Justice of the European Union, and served as a judge at the European Union Civil Service Tribunal. Since 2020, he has been teaching at the University of Luxembourg. He is the author of more than 60 scientific publications in Bulgarian, English, and French.
