An official reception at the Bulgarian Embassy in Paris marked the closing of the 47th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee. Among those present were the chair of the session Prof. Nikolay Nenov, the director of the World Heritage Centre Lazare Eloundou-Assomo, and the Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay.

“We have accepted 28 new sites on the World Heritage List and decided to remove one site from Africa from the list of sites in danger, as it is no longer in danger. This is a remarkable result and a true testament to the achievements of the World Heritage Convention,” said the Ambassador of Bulgaria in Paris, Radka Balabanova, quoted by BTA.

“I was convinced of how much Bulgaria is committed to the work of UNESCO. I would also like to thank the financial institutions that did everything possible to ensure the conditions for our discussions here, in Paris, at UNESCO headquarters. I know that you have put in a lot of effort, and I thank you for that,” said UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay.

The next session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee will be held in Busan, South Korea.
