Bulgaria and six other EU member states have not signed a joint statement condemning Israel over the situation in Gaza. The statement was signed by 20 EU countries, 8 partner nations and European Commissioner for Preparedness, Crisis Management and Equality, Hadja Lahbib. It was published on the website of the UK Foreign Office.

''The suffering of civilians in Gaza has reached new depths. The Israeli government’s aid delivery model is dangerous, fuels instability and deprives Gazans of human dignity. We condemn the drip feeding of aid and the inhumane killing of civilians, including children, seeking to meet their most basic needs of water and food'', reads the statement.

Apart from Bulgaria, the statement was not signed by Germany, Croatia, Czechia, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia. Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, has not signed either.

Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected the document, stating that the message is detached from reality and sends the wrong signal to Hamas.
