The wheat harvest is 80% complete. With average yield of 586 kg per decare, almost 5.8 million tons of wheat have been harvested. Over 1 million tons of barley have been harvested with 95 percent of the areas harvested and over 220,000 tons of rapeseed with 78% of the crops harvested. This was what Deputy Minister of Agriculture Yanislav Yanchev said during the “Field Day” event near Balchik.
According to Yanchev, the quality of the autumn crops is very good and the yields are good. “That is not the case with the spring crops - corn and sunflower. The sharp drought in June will have a truly fatal impact on the yields,” the Deputy Minister added. He called on farmers to restructure their businesses due to climate change with the help of opportunities in the EU, the Ministry of Agriculture announced.
