“We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria”, “Alliance for Rights and Freedoms” and MECH have submitted a request to the Speaker of the National Assembly Natalia Kiselova to convene an extraordinary plenary session to consider the draft bills for increasing the salaries of young doctors and medical specialists, BGNES has reported.

The parties propose that the session be held on July 29, so that before the start of the summer vacation, the parliament could adopt the amendments to the Medical Establishments Act, which will guarantee decent remuneration for the work of doctors. Their request coincides with the government’s promise to adopt the necessary legislation by the end of the month.

Young doctors and medical specialists took to the streets in numerous protests across the country demanding a minimum wage of 150% of the average salary in the country.
