Public procurement tenders have been announced for the final 2.4 km of the railway line from Gyueshevo to North Macedonia, as well as for the Sofia–Radomir section. The total value of the tenders exceeds EUR 279 million, and the completion deadline is set for 2029, said the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
The National Railway Infrastructure Company clarified that the public tender for the new railway section from Gyueshevo to the border with North Macedonia, which is the only missing part of Corridor No.8 on Bulgarian territory, includes the design and construction of 2.4 km of railway track, as well as the reconstruction of Gyueshevo railway station, which will become a Schengen border station for both passenger and freight traffic. The final 420 meters of the railway line are listed as a separate lot in the tender, as their construction will begin after the completion of the cross-border tunnel.
