Bulgaria’s U19 men’s national volleyball team has advanced to the quarter-finals of the World Championship in Tashkent following a thrilling five-set victory over the United States, BTA reported.

Led by Ivan Uzunov, Martin Totkov, Nikola Konstantinov, Deyan Marinov, Nikolay Nikolayev, Jasmin Velichkov and Daniel Tiholov, the Bulgarian side secured a hard-fought 3–2 win with set scores of 25–22, 25–23, 20–25, 14–25 and 16–14.

Coached by Miroslav Zhivkov, the team initially took a 2–0 lead, but then saw it slip away as the Americans mounted a comeback. In a dramatic final set, the US side held three consecutive match points, but the Bulgarians kept their nerve to win the last five points and secure victory.

In the quarter-finals, Bulgaria will face Spain, who secured their place with a straight-sets win (3–0) over Argentina.
