The activity of Russian propaganda websites and pages in Bulgaria has increased twelvefold, Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov told the Atlantic Club conference NATO After the Hague Summit '25: The Bulgarian Dimension 2025–2035, which took place today in Sofia. "Fighting propaganda is of vital importance to our security," said Mr Zapryanov.
"Bulgaria is one of the countries most targeted by Russian propaganda," he stated, as reported by BTA. The minister says the propaganda aims to make NATO's decisions in The Hague seem meaningless and to create division in society, thus eroding trust in NATO and the EU.

Mr Zapryanov also said that the European Union's SAFE tool could be used to address rearmament. He added that greater investment is needed to boost defence capabilities.
