The total consumer confidence indicator, or, in other words, consumers’ assessment of their economic future in Bulgaria and the current economic situation continues to fall, dropping by 4.7 points in July 2025, to minus 21.1 percent, National Statistical Institute data show.
This drop affects the urban as well as the rural population. Consumers say that in the past 12 months there has been a rise in consumer prices. At the same time their inflation expectations for the next 12 months have been growing. With regard to unemployment in the country, during the next 12 months, forecasts are shifting towards the same level or an insignificant drop. The current economic situation in the country is seen by the majority of consumers as unfavourable for saving money. Interestingly, at the same time a growing number of people in Bulgaria plan to buy durable goods in the next 12 months.
