We expect the governments of Belgium and the Netherlands to decide soon on the acquisition of their decommissioned mine hunters by Bulgaria. This was what Minister of Defence Atanas Zapryanov said in Varna. He was guest at the solemn meeting-concert on the occasion of the 146th anniversary of the establishment of the Navy. Zapryanov specified that the mine hunters, although second-hand, will be modernized and the capabilities of the military fleet will increase. According to him, even if there is a peace agreement and the war in Ukraine stops, the mine danger in the Black Sea will remain.
Clear priorities and civic control are necessary in the implementation of projects for the modernization of the Bulgarian army, President Rumen Radev said in Varna. He attended the ceremony for giving officer rank to 44 cadets from the class of 2025 of the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy.
