159 fires have been extinguished in Bulgaria over the past 24 hours, the General Directorate of Fire Safety and Population Protection announced. No one died or was injured in the fires.

The fire near the village of Skala in Sungurlare has been localized, but not extinguished.

The fire front is over 10 km. It is mainly a pine forest that is burning, announced the regional governor Vladimir Krumov. There is no danger to the settlement. 50 residents were evacuated to the center of the village, but they returned to their homes last night.

Over 16,000 acres of mixed forest and vineyard massifs have burned so far in the region.

The firefighting continues on the fire that broke out again in Pirin Mountain. Nearly 100 acres of new territories have been covered. Aircraft are also expected to arrive at the scene today, said the regional director of the Blagoevgrad fire department, Commissioner Valentin Vassilev.
