The monument on Mount Buzludzha - a symbol of the socialist era in Bulgarian history and a "star" among lovers of dark tourism, is once again the venue of a festival with a modern spirit and cause. For the fifth year, OPEN BUZLUDZHA offers a captivating light show, talks, workshops and music from dusk to dawn against the backdrop of beautiful nature in the heart of the Balkan Mountains. All this with one single goal - to gather public support for the preservation and opening of the Buzludzha monument as a place for art, culture and history

The organizer of the event is the "Buzludzha Project" foundation, which has been actively working for a decade to breathe new life into one of the most recognizable buildings in Bulgaria, and its efforts are supported by thousands of volunteers and like-minded people.

This year, the festival is dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the "Buzludzha Project". Its motto is "A Story to Share" and visitors have the opportunity to share their stories, opinions and ideas about Buzludzha, as well as learn about the personal stories of people connected to the place.

"The festival itself is a story of shared experience and shared cause. It becomes a scene for meetings between stories and visions, past and future, here and now," say the organizers. And after its end on August 17, the sharing of impressions and ideas continues in order to preserve the symbol of an entire era from destruction and oblivion.
