"The small village with a big place in Bulgarian literature" - this is how Prof. Dr. Hussein Mevsim from Ankara University called the Ivaylovgrad village of Khukhla in the literary route developed by his team. The description is part of the international academic program "Picturesque Bulgaria", which is being held under the auspices of Vice President Iliana Yotova. The interdisciplinary work unites young Bulgarian researchers from 10 universities in Athens, Warsaw, Venice, Vienna, Ljubljana, Plovdiv, St. Petersburg, Sofia, Strasbourg, Heidelberg. The working groups are led by established Bulgarian and foreign scholars. Among the participants from abroad are students of Bulgarian origin, children of emigrants, students and doctoral candidates in Bulgarian studies.

All of them are drawing tourist routes related to Bulgarian literature, culture and history.

On September 21, in the program of "Mysteries of Khukhla - 2025", the "Literary Atlas" and the Virtual Map of Bulgaria created under the project will be presented with developed routes related to various aspects of our culture. "Picturesque Bulgaria. Bulgarian Literary Routes" is expected to play an important role in popularizing Bulgarian literature among a very wide readership.
