Within two months, a hospital heliport will be built in the town Haskovo, southeastern Bulgaria, BTA reported. The landing pad will be on an area of 900 square meters at the Haskovo Hospital.

The Haskovo Hospital is among the 20 state medical institutions for which expenses for the construction of airfields were approved, allocated by the Ministry of Health. The terrain for the landing pad was selected as the most suitable due to its proximity to the two hospital buildings.

According to the hospital director, Dr. Georgi Gelov, the location is open and suitable for helicopter landings. It is right next to the building that houses the obstetrics and gynecology department, neonatology, transfusion hematology department and neurological department.

Heavy equipment is currently on site and the terrain is being rammed. The construction of the road connection between the airport site and the street and the two buildings of the Haskovo Hospital has also begun.
