Mortgage loans grew by nearly 30% for a year

Faster growth in loans compared to deposits, with mortgage loans remaining the main driver, the latest data from the Bulgarian National Bank show.

In July 2025, loans to households and non-profit institutions serving households (NPISH) reached EUR 26.6 billion, which is an increase of 20.9% compared to July 2024. The largest contribution was made by housing loans - EUR 15.1 billion, with an annual growth of 27.4%. Consumer loans also grew significantly - by 13.6% to EUR 10.5 billion.

At the same time, deposits of households and NPISH increased by 12.2%, reaching EUR 48 billion.
