Bulgarian President Rumen Radev was present at the opening of a new high-tech plant of the German concern Rheinmetall at the invitation of the company's CEO Armin Papperger. The plant, located in Unterlüß, Lower Saxony, will produce 155-millimeter shells according to NATO standards. The investment is for over 500 million euros, BTA has reported.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Rheinmetall will participate in the construction of two plants in Bulgaria. One will be for the production of gunpowder, and the other - for shells, with the investment totaling over 1 billion euros.

The Bulgarian head of state is on a working visit to Germany on August 27 and 28. During his visit, he will also meet with his counterpart, President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
