The wildfire in the Rila National Park, which has been raging for the fifth day, has damaged about 200 acres of forests and alpine zones. Despite the rain over the weekend,, the fires continue to smolder and today the teams of volunteers, firefighters and foresters are mainly focused on extinguishing the fires around the perimeter of the fire, Chief Inspector Julian Petrov - PBZNS Blagoevgrad told BNT.

50 people are working on the ground, and firefighters hope to have the fire extinguished within a few days.

At the same time, in the Strumyani municipality, a fire on the Maleshevo mountain above the village of Igralishte affected over 120 acres of forest. The cause of the fire is most likely lightning from a storm, as Maleshevo is one of the most waterless mountains and this makes it highly vulnerable to fires. Seven fire trucks have been on the scene since early morning, and volunteers from the emergency and rescue teams in Petrich and Strumyani have also been mobilized.
