September 10 to 14, audiences in Pernik, Sapareva Banya, Sofia and Plovdiv will be able to hear the world famous Maharaj Trio from India – a trio with a remarkable musical career.
Prabhash Maharaj - tabla, Abhishek Maharaj – sitar and Pandit Vikash Maharaj – sarod, play Indian classical and world music. The musicians come from the Indian town of Varanasi – a spiritual and cultural centre with a history going back thousands of years, and are 14th generation of the Maharaj clan, which has preserved and developed the traditions of Indian music and traditional instruments for 500 years.
On 10 September the musicians will be playing in Pernik, on 11 September – in Sapareva Banya, on 12 and 14 September in Sofia, and on 13 September – in Plovdiv.
Admission to all events is free.
