Weather forecast for 11 September

A cold atmospheric front will sweep across the country from west to east

On Thursday, temperatures will be between 16 and 19°C, with 16°C in Sofia. During the day, a cold atmospheric front passing from west to east will bring more significant cloud cover. Scattered showers will start around noon in western and central Bulgaria and spread to the rest of the country by evening. There are also conditions for thunderstorms and hailstorms. The phenomena will be more intense in mountainous areas and in northern Bulgaria. Maximum temperatures will range from 28 to 33°C, reaching 29°C in Sofia.


Along the Black Sea coast, there will be scattered clouds, becoming more prevalent after noon. Visibility will be reduced in some places in the morning. There will be light to moderate easterly winds. Maximum air temperatures will be between 26 and 27°C. The sea water temperature will be 24–25°C. The sea state will be 2–3.


In the mountains, there will be significant cloud cover. Cumulonimbus clouds will mainly develop over the massifs of western and central Bulgaria, bringing short but intense periods of rainfall and thunderstorms. The maximum temperature at an altitude of 1,200 metres will be around 23°C and around 16°C at 2,000 metres.


On Friday, cloud cover will be more pronounced, with rain clouds around noon and after. Short, intense showers are expected. Maximum temperatures will range from 22°C in the west to around 30°C in the east, where it will be sunnier before noon.
