The entire Europe Motorway will be open for traffic on Sunday (September 14), Bulgaria’s Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Ivanov said at a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Regional Policy, Public Works and Local Self-Government.

According to Minister Ivanov, road construction had been suspended or reduced to a minimum in recent years, and one of the main tasks now is the construction of motorways. Ivan Ivanov also said that he had instructed the Road Infrastructure Agency to conduct a complete inventory of the country's road network by November 1, in order to identify where outdated road signs are located.

The total length of Europe Motorway, which is an important part of the Trans-European Transport Network, is 63 km and starts at the border with Serbia (at the Kalotina border checkpoint). It is integrated into the Sofia Northern Speed Tangent which is also part of the motorway. Through the Sofia Northern Speed Tangent, car and cargo traffic is distributed toward the "Hemus" and "Trakia" motorways.
