Requested NATO consultations do not mean war, foreign minister says

The activation of Article 4 of the NATO Treaty does not mean involvement in war, Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev told journalists at a forum in Blagoevgrad.

“Consultations are to be scheduled under Article 4 of the NATO Treaty. There are not many cases in which this measure has been resorted to. This is the point of the consultations to adopt the most adequate possible actions,” Georgiev said. “We have learned that unfortunately the Russian Federation is abusing the international security situation,” the minister pointed out. There is no common European position after the attack. Every country, including Bulgaria, has expressed concern about the growing tension, added the first Bulgarian diplomat, quoted by BTA.
