For the first time Bulgaria will try to enter the Davis Cup World Group

Alexander Vasilev defeated former 37-seeded Emil Ruusuvuori, earning a historic victory for Bulgaria over Finland for the Davis Cup - the unofficial world team tennis championship for men. Vasilev won by 7-6 (5), 6-4 in two hours of play, ensuring his ultimate success with a total of 3-2 wins. The third victory went to Alexander Donski and Petr Nesterov in the doubles against Harri Heliovaara and Otto Virtanen by 6-4, 1-6 and 7-6. Before that Vasilev won vs. Otto Virtanen in 2 sets.

This means this is the first time Bulgaria will be playing a historic qualification for entering the World Group in February next year.
