Bulgaria is ready to down Russian drones. The Northeastern part of the country is actively being monitored, Minister of Defence Atanas Zapryanov said in an interview with bTV. Bulgaria will take out a loan of over EUR 3 billion for 9 rearmament projects. Each of the projects will be approved by parliament. “The loan under the EU’s SAFE programme will be paid off over 40 years with a grace period of 10 years,” Minister Zapryanov said.

Steps have been taken to defend our air space, especially in the Northeastern parts of the country, PM Rosen Zhelyazkov on his part said. “There is a protocol that is being followed. We must also guarantee the safety of civil aviation. I believe that the Russian Federation will be very careful and will avoid any possibility of an incident in the Black Sea where air traffic is very intensive,” the Bulgarian prime minister said.
