Bulgaria is among the countries that are expected to block most of the European Commission's proposals for sanctions against Israel over its actions in the Gaza Strip, "Politico" writes. This is likely to happen on September 17 at a meeting in Brussels of the permanent representatives of the EU countries. Similar actions are also expected from Italy, the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary and Germany, BNR correspondent in Brussels, Angelina Piskova, reports.

A key element of the package of trade restrictions over the war in Gaza is the possible suspension of preferential trade under the EU-Israel Association Agreement. This is a deal for over 42 billion euros, as 37% are on preferential terms.
