Before the fifth vote of no confidence against the government of Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, opposition MPs from "We Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" blocked the entrance to the courtyard of the parliament. They said that they would not prevent the MPs from entering the National Assembly building or the plenary hall, but they want the MPs to walk.

The action was announced in support of Varna Mayor Blagomir Kotsev and former Deputy Mayor of Sofia Nikola Barbutov, who are detained for corruption. According to the opposition, they are political prisoners.

Upon entering the parliament, the leader of "DPS - New Beginning" Delyan Peevski got into a verbal altercation with the MPs participating in the blockade, BTA has reported.

Meanwhile, in the morning, while guarding the protest in front of the parliament, a policeman suffered a cardiac arrest and later died in hospital, BGNES has reported.
