The National Museum of Natural History at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) is inviting visitors to Researchers' Night (Night of Scientists) on 26 September. From 17:30 in the museum foyer at 1 Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevard, Professor Zlatozar Boev will present the latest addition to the Vertebrate Department's collection: a 3D model of the dodo.
For scientists and conservationists, the dodo is an iconic species, marking the start of a tragic wave of human-driven extinctions. According to researchers, modern science is getting closer and closer to realising the once absurd idea of reintroducing extinct species to the wild.
After the presentation, the museum will reveal the evolutionary secrets of the Phylinae subfamily of plant bugs. A range of other events is planned for the evening.
