Citizens gathered outside the Sofia headquarters of DPS-New Beginning to protest in support of the detained mayor of Varna, Blagomir Kotsev.

Organised by the civic association BOEC, the demonstration carried the slogan: 'For a free Bulgaria — without Peevski, Borisov and the mafia!' MPs from PP-DB also attended the event.

Ivaylo Mirchev of Yes, Bulgaria! (part of Democratic Bulgaria), told reporters that Delyan Peevski, the leader of DPS-New Beginning, had reportedly flown to Dubai. “He clearly has some interests there,” he said. Bozhidar Bozhanov of the same party added that the Anti-Corruption Commission, the Prosecutor’s Office and the National Revenue Agency had been notified of alleged discrepancies in Peevski’s declared income and suspicions of receiving funds from illegal sources.
