A major project to produce a feature film about the life and career of legendary Bulgarian footballer Hristo Stoichkov was presented on Wednesday, state news agency BTA reported.
The premiere is scheduled for late 2027. The creators said they aim to deliver a production without parallel that will resonate across Bulgaria and make an international impact.
The film will be directed by Martin Makariev and will star Alexander Sano, alongside veteran sports journalist Vladimir Pamukov, author of Hristo Stoichkov: The Story — as part of the creative team.
The producers said that the film will reveal some of the most dramatic, intimate and defining moments of Stoichkov's career, going beyond his public image to show the man who is regarded as a symbol of national pride.
