"Bulgaria welcomes the UN80 initiative as a step toward a stronger organization and supports reforms in the United Nations", said Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov during a meeting with the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, according to the government's press service.

The meeting took place during the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. "We expressed our concerns about the ongoing global tensions that are pulling countries away from the goals of the United Nations", Premier Zhelyazkov said. The meeting was also attended by Bulgaria’s new Permanent Representative to the UN, Gergana Karadjova, who will lead the Bulgarian mission in New York.

Meanwhile, during the UN Security Council High-Level Open Debate on Artificial Intelligence and International Peace and Security, Bulgaria reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence.
