Bulgaria will have its own anti-drone systems. They will be purchased by the Ministry of Defence with a loan under the European SAFE instrument. This became clear from a written response by Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov to a question from MP Daniel Lorer.
The question was submitted a few days before the announced EU initiative to create a “drone wall” along the eastern borders of the community. In addition to Bulgaria, the project will include Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine.
By order of the Chief of Defense Adm. Emil Eftimov, the military is already conducting surveillance and guarding the skies over Bulgaria for drones and is ready to quickly detect such objects, the minister said in his response to MP Lorer.
