Bulgaria supports the creation of European drone wall

Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said in Copenhagen that Bulgaria supports the creation of a European drone wall. He participated in the informal meeting of the European Council in the Danish capital, the government's press service reported.

"In the long term, we must build the necessary level of early warning, tracking, interception and destruction of enemy aircraft, and this must be done with interoperability and with the capabilities that NATO has in securing and protecting the eastern flank," the prime minister said. He added that the eastern flank of the European Union largely coincides with the eastern flank of the Alliance and its protection is a proactive action related to the provocations of the Russian Federation on the borders of the member states.

Rosen Zhelyazkov supported the view that the entire panorama of protection should be considered and that the EU should not be protected from just one side. When asked how Bulgaria would participate, he replied that this would be done through projects and the opportunities under the European SAFE mechanism.
