Until October 10, the Bulgarian minesweeper “Shkval” and ships from the Naval Mine Countermeasure Group in the Black Sea will participate in the multinational exercise Poseidon-25, the Ministry of Defense announced.

The seventh activation of the Naval Mine Countermeasure Group in the Black Sea (MCM Black Sea) began on October 4 in Constanta, Romania.

The annual Poseidon exercises practice interoperability in mine countermeasures and are organized alternately by Romania and Bulgaria.

In addition to “Shkval”, two more Romanian and one Turkish mine countermeasure ship are participating in the group. In Poseidon-25, warships from 10 more partner countries will participate – Belgium, Canada, France, Greece, Italy, Poland, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, the United States and Sweden, as well as NATO’s Allied Maritime Command (MARCOM) and the Naval Mine Warfare Center of Excellence.
