Bulgaria’s government on Wednesday approved funding of up to €3,800 per household to support families affected by recent floods, Labour and Social Policy Minister Borislav Gutsanov said.

Families will receive €1,530 in additional support if their damaged home is legally built and is their only residence, Gutsanov told a briefing. An additional €980 is available, bringing the total support to almost €2,510. Households can also apply for up to €1,280 to replace damaged household goods, such as television sets, washing machines, and cookers.

The aid will be financed from the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy’s budget. “The amounts are not large, but these are the ministry’s available resources,” said Gutsanov.
