The Earth and Man National Museum in Sofia is hosting the 33rd Sofia Exhibition of Minerals, Gemstones and Fossils, the institution announced.
The three-day event opens today and features companies and collectors of minerals and fossils, as well as artists presenting their mineral-based creations, natural artworks and souvenirs.

Visitors can view and purchase cut gemstones, raw and tumbled minerals, decorative stones and a range of related items. Collectors will also have the chance to acquire minerals from Bulgaria, as well as rare and exotic specimens of exceptional quality from around the world.

On Saturday and Sunday, children can participate in a 'Gold Rush' activity to learn how to pan for the precious metal in river sand. The programme also includes exhibitions and competitions for the finest specimens from Bulgaria and abroad, as well as the most impressive mineral-based artwork.
