Bulgarian investigative journalist Christo Grozev was honored as European Journalist of the Year at the official ceremony of the PRIX EUROPA festival in Berlin.

Grozev was a key figure in the search for the former Wirecard manager Jan Marsalek in Moscow, as well as in the disclosure of a number of activities of the Russian intelligence services.
"This award simply gives me an answer why these eleven years of significant deprivation, absence from my family, especially the last four years that I had to live as a hermit, without seeing my children, without even being there for my father's last days, were worth it. In other words, it all made sense, for me this award is almost as important as the fact that my children continue to be proud of what I do and are not angry about my absence," Christo Grozev commented for the Bulgarian National Radio.
13 PRIX EUROPA awards were presented for the best European audio, video and digital media productions of the year. A total of 162 programs from 30 countries were nominated.

The audio version of the Bulgarian National Radio series "I" was among the nominated programs. This is a unique video and audiocast series for the BNR, created by a team from the Digital Programs Directorate of the Bulgarian National Radio, which provides an opportunity to rethink identity through success, providing space for voices that are too often marginalized or misunderstood.

The ceremony in Berlin also announced the accession of the Bulgarian National Radio to the PRIX EUROPA Alliance, with the Director General of the public media, Milen Mitev, presenting the award in the Audio Documentary category.

The PRIX EUROPA was held for the 39th time. The event is traditionally hosted by the German public media outlet "Radio Berlin Brandenburg" (Rundfunk Berlin Brandenburg). The ceremony took place at the Berlin City Hall and was attended by an international audience of media professionals.
