Bulgaria’s Parliament failed to hold a session on October 15. "The next session is tomorrow at 9 a.m.", announced National Assembly Speaker Natalia Kiselova. Only 61 MPs registered for attendance during the first and only attempt to open the session. The session was blocked after GERB leader Boyko Borissov called for a reformatting of the ruling majority and declared that GERB MPs would no longer help secure a quorum in Parliament.
Opposition parties MECH, Vazrazhdane and Velichie immediately demanded the government's resignation and early elections. The Bulgarian Socialist Party proposed that GERB, as the mandate holder, submit its proposals to the Joint Governance Council and warned that destabilizing the majority could have economic and social consequences.
